Christian Education

Sunday School / Wednesday Bible Study
Thursday Bible Study / Library / Episcopal Church Q's & A's

From September through May the Youth Sunday School meets upstairs in the Parish House at 9:15 for lessons, then joins the adult worship service at the Peace, uniting our faith community. Different activities are planned each summer for the children.

Our Sunday services include readings from the Old and New Testaments for our inspiration and reflection. During the summer months Fr. Delk leads one or more series of Bible Study at 9:00 a.m., before the 10:00 worship service.

Janet Parsons coordinates the youth Sunday School. Above left, she and Barbara Paul lead the youth group in "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands."
Mark Hanna volunteered to lead Unit One on "God and Prayer" with the middle schoolers. The curriculum is split into several units, enabling adult volunteers to participate with minimal preparation for only one unit or several. More teachers are needed!

Two additional Adult Bible Study groups meet in the Parish House on Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study meets at 10:00 a.m. This group is currently studying the Kerygma course "Lord, Teach Us to Pray," which discusses six petitions to God found in The Lord's Prayer: three petitions for what God asks of us and three petitions for what we ask of God. The course cites both Old and New Testament references for each petition. New members are always welcome at this lively, supportive, and genial discussion. Contact Mary Brittain for more information. spacer

Thursday Evening Bible Study meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish House. The group is listening to audio tapes of last year's Shrinemont speaker, author Phyllis Tickle. The tapes introduce the theme of "Benedictine Spirituality" with a discussion on keeping the Divine Hours, and explore spirituality in contemporary society. New members are always welcome. Contact Rick Garfield for more information.

Library
The Library, located on the second floor of the Parish House, contains a wide selection of books, tapes, and pamplets to guide us on our faith journeys. These resources are available for you to borrow and return.
