The Reverend Michael L. Delk, formerly Canon for Young Adults and Communications at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, Georgia, is our new rector. Fr. Michael succeeds the
Rev. Edwin Bishop, who served as our Interim Rector.

After meeting our congregation for the first time on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, Fr. Michael shared this impression of our faith community in his departure announcement to St. Phillip's Cathedral:
Worshipping with them for the first time last Sunday, I was struck by the vigorous singing and readily evident delight that the congregation took in the liturgy and in each other. The future looks bright but busy for the people of Hickory Neck and their new rector-elect. Situated ten miles north of historic Williamsburg, just off I-64, the potential for growth at Hickory Neck is tremendous, and they possess a high quality of lay leadership that can take advantage of that opportunity for the sake of the Gospel.
Fr. Michael was graduated with highest honors from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion. He took his Masters of Divinity with honors from Virginia Theological Seminary. He was a Visiting Graduate Scholar at Oxford University and served as Chaplain Intern at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his regular preaching and worship leadership, Fr. Michael has led numerous workshops, missions, retreats, and outreach efforts. He has published several scholarly articles and taught numerous workshops and Christian education programs.
Fr. Michael and his wife Stephanie have one son, Benjamin. Stephanie works part-time as an early childhood development specialist and pediatric physical therapist at Child Development Resources, Inc., in Norge.
