Langley AFB, Hampton, VA:
Protesters stood near the base gate with posters such as: "Weapons Are Not Healthy For
Our Children and Other Living Things." Inside the show, two protesters climbed atop an
exhibited B-52 bomber and unfolded a large white banner that read, "Weapons of mass
destruction - nothing to celebrate." Within five minutes, two Air Force security officers
tore the banner out of the protesters' hands, grabbed the two men and turned them over to
a team of other security officers waiting on the ground. The protesters offered no
resistance, and the crowd around the plane cheered and applauded the security team's
actions.
A Langley spokeswoman said jumping on the plane was akin to trespassing. The two men,
she said, were charged with entering military property unlawfully or for unlawful purposes.
The suspects were to be released and will have to appear in federal court. Langley released
no names or other details.
