This indenture made and entered into this the 24th day of February AD 1868  between Joel Forehand and wife Mary Forehand of the first part, and William T Forehand son of the said Joel and Mary Forehand of the second part.  All of the County of Chowan and State of North Carolina   witnesseth that we the said Joel Forehand and wife Mary Forehand for and in consideration of the natural love and affection to our son the said William Forehand have given granted and by these present do give grant onto the said William Forehand his heirs and offings  a certain piece or parcel of land situated in the County and State aforesaid.  Beginning at a pine stump a corner formerly known as Zachariah Evans corner and running CD Ellis' line to Mills Goodwins' corner then running Edward Parish line to Sarah Pierce line then said Sarah Pierce line to the DV Etheridge line then  along Etheridge line to a pine stump upon the north side of the Brownriggs road and along said road to       line then along Sanders line to a pine stump and along Sanders line to the first station containing by estimation 115 acres be the same more or less.To have and to hold the above bounded premises with all the improvements and             unto the said William to Forehand his heirs and offings forever .And we the aforesaid Joel Forehand and wife Mary Forehand do for ourselves  our heirs and offings forever warrant and defend the right and title of said land against all lawful claims of any and all persons whatsoever  unto the said William T Forehand his heirs and offings forever.  In witness we do set our hands and affix our seals with this day and date above witnessed signed sealed and delivered in the presence of
