This indenture made and entered into June 20th in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four between Alexander Tilghman of the State of North Carolina County of Jones and William C Loftin of the same State and County of Lenoir of the first part and Nathan Askew of the said State and County of Jones of the second part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars in hand paid to the said Alexander Tilghman and William O Loftin by the said Nathan Askew of the second part the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Alexander Tilghman and William O Loftin hath bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents do bargain sell? enfeoss? and convey and deliver unto the said Nathan Askew one certain piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Jones and Lenoir and is a part of two several patents one by John Love for two hundred acres bearing date 4th of March 1775 and the other patented by David O Bryan for one hundred acres bounded as follows beginning at a Pine Richard Blackledges ,David O Bryan and William Hawkins home line to a stake in the patent line of John Love thence North 25 degrees East 178 poles thence East 125 poles to a stake in Robert Witherington patent line thence South 30 degrees East 107 poles to a Pine Witheringtons corner thence to Richard Blackledges line thence thence with his line to the beginning containing by estimation one hundred fifty acres be the same more or less .To him the said Nathan Askew his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever .To have and to hold the above premises with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging and      the said Alexander Tilghman and William O Loftin do covenant and agree to and with the said Nathan Askew for ourselves our heirs or any other person claiming through or by us to ?quit? claim and?   ? unto the said Nathan Askew all of our right titles to the above deeded land and so forth .In Witness whereof and hereunto subscribed the day and date above written
